James Cathey

James Cathey was adopted by Stephen and Nancy Pierce and is listed in
the 1880

US Census with them in Iowa. I would like to obtain more information on
him

and his birth place and natural parents.

The US Census was the 1880 US Census for Washington Twp, Lucas Co., Iowa. I
have continued searching for James Cathay/Cathey and have found two
families in adjacent counties in 1870.
1. Finis B Cathay and family, 1870 US Census Marion Twp, Davis Co., Iowa.
There is a James T Cathay age one (1) is with him.
2. Henderson Cathey and family, 1870 US Census Sharon Twp, Appanoose Co.,
Iowa. There is a James Cathey age one (1) with him.

Henderson Cathey comes up in 1885 with family. His son James is still with
him.

I have also tried to find Finis B in 1880 to no avail. I have done a
search for Harriet O Cathay age five (5) in 1870, sister to James T and I
believe she is in Fox River Twp, Davis Co., Iowa age 14 working at keeping
house. I will continue searching for other members of this family with the
idea the parents may have died/divorced or ????
