Warren,

Your name seems familiar... I am also descended from Eli Bagley and could share what I have. I don't think that the elder Eli (Eliakim) ever made it to Iowa. I think he stayed in Decatur County, Indiana on the homesteads there. He is shown there aged 75 in the 1850 census. Eli, David, and John (but I'm not sure which John) were in Appanoose county and Lee County before Eli took off for Oregon before the census of 1852. I have census 1850 (with Eli and David) and 1852 records (with David and John), but no other documentation other than family history.
Land claim documents then show him and Nancy arriving in Oregon in Octover 1853 with other related families also known to be in Iowa and intermarried with Eli and Nancy's children.
