Here’s Peter’s grave with a link to his wife’s:

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=53761232

I found Peter and family in the 1830, 1840 and 1850 censuses in Guilford County, NC. In the 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses they’re in Appanoose County, so any stop in Indiana must have been brief. All members of the family were born in North Carolina. In the 1880 census Peter said that both of his parents were born in New Hampshire. Mary Ann was dead by then.

Here’s an old post on a different forum with details on the family members:

http://genforum.genealogy.com/coffin/messages/964.html

I found a marriage record for Peter and Mary Ann on Ancestry that says that they were married in Guildford County, NC not Orange County from that post.

Here’s a genealogy someone did. Peter and Mary Ann are about half way down the page:

You can find previous generations listed by his name by going to other pages on that site.

Here’s another genealogy that doesn’t list Peter and Mary Ann but does have the Coffin family even further back in England:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~coffinquest/coffin-family.html

I can’t verify the accuracy of those genealogies. Many such as them are correct, some are very wrong.
