Here's Kenneth Jr.'s obit in which he listed his mother as Helen:

But you're right, the birth record listed his mother as Eden (sp) Points:

I found a document that lists her with her family and a spouse, last name not McElderry. Click the first link on this page to open a Word document:

But this post lists the same family in multiple censuses with a daughter of the right age named Edna and no Eden. I suspect Edna's name got listed or transcribed as Eden by mistake on the birth record:
