Nathaniel & Margaret (Murley) Davis

DAVIS

I and other family members are trying to find the last location of residence and death for Nathaniel Davis and his wife Margaret “Peggy” (Murley) Davis. Some of their children and families made their way to Appanoose County in roughly the 1840-1860 time frame. Nathaniel and Margaret may have traveled with them.

A little chronology on Nathaniel:

- A man named Nathaniel Davis was born in VA in about 1778.
- By 1800 he was married in Pulaski County, KY
- By 1801 he was on the tax rolls in neighboring Madison County, KY
- By 1816 he had settled in Jennings County, IN
- By 1837 he had sold his land in Jennings County, IN and moved to location unknown
- Unsourced information has Nathaniel dying in 1843 and Peggy dying in 1845
- We haven’t been able to track back to the origin of those death dates
- We haven’t found Nathaniel and Peggy in the 1840 or later US Census records

Perhaps there are deeds or probates for Nathaniel Davis between 1835 and 1850 that would pinpoint where he lived.

Can anyone help check on the existence of records for Nathaniel or Margaret "Peggy" Davis in that time period?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Scott
