This isn't exactly a query. Rather, it's an obituary which I thought might be of interest. I live in Las Cruces, NM, but some of my ancestors came from Appanoose County, and I've done some research there. So this item in our local newspaper caught my eye.
Arley O'Neal Moriarty, age 91, died on 24 August 2011 in Las Cruces, NM. He was born "at home in Cincinnati, Iowa" on 3 November 1919 to Marcus and Mary Ervin Moriarty. He was preceeded in death by both parents and by brothers Max, Murl (Mickey) and Wendell (Wayne), sisters Halcyon Streepy and Roma Reeves, and his son, Patrick. Survived by wife Bette Gibbs Moriarty, brothers Donald, Jack and Larry, sister Mary Smith, three daughters, grandchildren, etc. Arley joined US Army Air Corps, served in England and flew 65 combat missions over Germany and France. Served over 20 years in US Army, retired in Gilroy, Calif., etc. Obit also has two photos. (Source: Las Cruces "Sun News", 1 Sept 2011)
