Salem Cem / George & Margaret Hiner

HINER

Is there any sexton records of the old Salem Cemetery? I am going through some of my old Hiner papers and have come across some handwritten papers from Eva Cowman (ca 1960's). Her papers show various Hiner's and Funkhouser's buried in Salem Cem. Her papers show that Margaret Hiner was buried in Salem Cemetery. Margaret died approx 1866. I also believe that her husband, George Hiner, was buried there in approx. 1887. One of their children, Milford Hiner, does have a headstone in old Salem Cemetery, but there are two or three other children that died prior to 1870 (Miranda, Elmore and/or Eddie) which I've never been able to find a place of burial.

I wonder if the there was a headstone for Margaret Hiner, if it was small and has been covered by dirt and grass over time. Same with any stones for George Hiner and the children.

Would sexton records go back to the 1860's?

Thanks for any assistance you may be able to offer.
