I am the great-great-grandson of John Walter and Barbara Walter, nee: Spach. John was born in Germany c. 3 July 1821 and died c. 12 July 1902. Barbara was born in Germany c. 6 March 1821 and died 20 Oct 1907 in Exline, Iowa. Both are buried in Zoar Cemetery. They sometimes spelled their surname "Walters". They emigrated from Germany to New York prior to 1852 and then moved to Appanoose County c. 1855, where they lived the rest of their lives. Children were William Walter, Caroline Walter Seitz, Mary Walter Aldridge (my great-grandmother), James Walter and Hiram L. Walter. Their grandchildren were Ida Withrow, Charles Denning, Mattie Moore, Maude J. Patterson, Dora L. Walter, Everet M. Walter, Gracie Walter, Virgil W. Walter, Emil B. Walter, Clovie D. Walter, Lawrence E. Walter, Enda L. Walter, Clara Walter and Gertrude Dengate. I would like to exchange information with any descendants of these people.
