In Response To: grandfather (Ricky L. Bozwell)

I have free access to ancestry.com at our local library so I did some searches and came up with the following. I'm using the spelling of Bozwell here but it appears often as Boswell. Also note that birth places and dates are not consistent. That's common.

1920 Census - Adams county, Lincoln twp, Iowa

Noah H. Bozwell age 21 b. IA occ - farm laborer
May Bozwell age 23 b. IA
Mary Grace Bozwell age 1
John Bozwell, age 63 occ - none, relationship - father

1930 Census - Adams county, Lincoln Twp, Iowa

Noah H. Bozwell age 32, age at marriage - 20, occ - farmer b. IA, F. f. IA, M. b. MO
Mae Bozwell age 33, age at marriage - 21, b. IA, M. b IA, F. b IA
and the following children:
Mary G. age 10
Lois M age 8
Isabell P age 6
Earl H. age 3 6/12
Lester age 2

In the 1925 special Iowa census for Adams county:

Noah, age 26, F. John Bozwell, b. IA, M. Mary Vestal, b. MO, both deceased , married in MO
Mae, age 28 F. O.l. Fast b. 1867 in IA, M. Mary Keege, b. 1869 in IA

Children:
Grace age 6
Lois age 4
Isabelle age 2

Then I found John Bozwell in the 1900 census in Appanoose County, Pleasant twp. For some reason Noah isn't listed, maybe because he fudged his age in later years.

John Bozwell, b. 6/1855 in IA F, b VA, M. b VA, married in 1875
Mary E. b. 2/1858 in MO, F. b KY, M. b KY

Children:

David M. age 22
Malinda age 19
Myrtle M. age 18
Thomas L age 14
Fannie L age 12
Fred C age 8

I couldn't find any of the Bozwell's in the 1910 census.

Finally if you go to this site:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp

and type in the name fields: John Bozwell, Life Event - Birth = 1855, Year = 1855, Country = United States, State = Iowa, there are two entries in the Pedigree Resource File section. Those are researched genealogies by members of the Mormon church, and while not guaranteed to be 100% accurate, they're usually very good. Select either of those and you'll find additional generations by clicking on the word Pedigree in the upper right hand corner. Click on each name to get more about each person.

Also note that West Virginia did not separate from Virginia until 1983, so later generations may or may not have adjusted for the old boundaries when they listed places in their records.

Good luck on the rest of year search.
