The James Ewing who was married to Sabina Clemmens is my great great grandfather. He was born in Knox County, Tennessee on June 14, 1817 and died in Ewing, Holt County, Nebraska on February 16, 1886. There is a photo of his tombstone posted online. He lived and owned property in Appanoose and Davis counties, Iowa in the 1840s until 1870. In that year he and his family moved to Holt County, Nebraska. He was the first postmaster of Ewing and the town is named after him. While in Iowa, he was the sheriff of Appanoose County from 1855 until 1858. I have other information about him and his descendants. I am looking for information about his parents, who were born in Virginia.
