In Response To: Land/Marriage Records (Lurene Bivin)

I tried finding Susan Carsell at our local library where there is a free subscription for ancestry.com and couldn't find anything on her parents. In those searches I found she sometimes spelled her last name as Carsal. She was born in Ohio per the 1860, 1870, 1880 and 1900 censuses. In the 1880 census she says her parents were born in VA, but in the 1900 census she says their birthplaces are unknown. In the 1880 census she lists her birth date as May, 1838.

Here is a Main web page with quite a lot of information on her children, including Mary. Do a "Find" for "William" until you get to William Main, then the blue print words are clickable links that have more information, including Mary's later life and death in Oklahoma.

Finally if you go to this page from the 1878 Appanoose County History, there is a short bio on Wiliam Main near the bottom of the page, living in Taylor Township. It has a few facts about her. That would have been sumitted by them while they're still young so is probably pretty accurate.
