I'm sorry for the delay. I was laid up with a broken ankle and evidently this site does not notify of a response. I believe the family you mention is a first cousin to my John William McDanel who married Effie Viola Luse. John Wm, better known as Willie, is the son of Ryman Isaac and Julia Sweezy McDanel.

I know of a Wayne & Pat McDanel and Clara Belle McDanel Mikels of the other line. I was told Pat had a history of that side, but when I talked to her a few months ago she said after their move she hadn't been able to find it. I have some info that I don't know where fits. From the looks of my time and things I HAVE to do it will be sometime early next year before I'll be free to explore it more.
I have a photo of a building that looks like the post card and my Mom says it is Showers schoolhouse in Appanoose Co. Do you know of it or what it looked like? I can scan the photos to you if you'd like.
