Thank you very much for the information on John Jairl and Isabelle Regan! Sorry for the slow responce, I've been working on a thesis. I was wondering, do you know of any records that may give earlier information on John or his parents? A marriage record for John and Isabelle would be great.
I'm still trying to find John in a census. He likely died shortly before 1900, and I haven't been able to find him in the 1880 or 1870 census. The 20 year gap between 1900 and 1880 is pretty big. Last week, I did found this census record for Isabelle:

Millard Ragan, age 1, male, white, at home, born in Iowa, parents both born in the United States
