Edward K. Elledge Dies
Edward Kindred Elledge, 78, a pioneer Cincinnati, Iowa business man died suddenly early today at his home there. Mr. Elledge had been in failing health but his death came as a shock and a sorrow to a great host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Elledge was born December 8, 1862, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Elledge, early settlers, who resided on a farm near the present site of Moulton.
In Saw Mill Business
In his young manhood, Mr. Elledge engaged in the sawmill business with members of the Gault family. He entered the Mercantile business in 1893 and continued active in Cincinnati business circles up until two years ago. In the past few years he has been assisted by his son, Herman Elledge, Who has taken an increasing responsibility as his father had gradually relinquished his active participation in the business
Widely Known
Mr. Elledge is widely known over the county and the news of his death will bring sorrow to a host of relatives and friends.
In death Mr. Elledge leaves his wife, the former Laura Pugh, And two daughters and four sons as follows: Inez of Elgin, Illinois, Lucille of Cedar Rapids, both schoolteachers, and Herman at home. Doctors Frank and Russell of Chariton and Lloyd of Danville, Illinois.
He also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Carl Elledge of Hibbing, Minnesota, Eva Boone, of Hibbing, and Maude Grewesbeck, of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
It is notable that Mr. Elledge sent all of his children through school and college.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Cincinnati Christian church and burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
