STATE NEWS
On Friday last, Miss Maria Keim, an accomplished young lady of Centerville, committed suicide by taking poison. The mother of the deceased died when she was very young, and her father was married again. The young lady and her stepmother failed to agree very well, and in more than one instance the former was cruelly beaten by the latter. About two months ago she left home, going to live with a friend. Here she also has more or less trouble, and on Thursday left the house. On Friday morning she stated to a companion that she did not have a friend in the world. The same afternoon she was found in convulsions a short distance from the town and soon after expired.
