Boy Killed by Cars
Mangled and bruised almost beyond recognition, the lifeless body of Roy A. Neuse of Centerville was found lying on his back in the center of the Rock Island track one-fourth of a mile west of the Chariton river water tank. Neuses left home in company with Claude Wilkes and young Jester, taking a night freight train for Eldon. The three boys were put off a freight three miles east of Drakeville and in an attempt to board a west-bound train were kept off by the crew. Roy, however, succeeded in catching the third car from the engine and it is thought was riding the rods when the accident occurred.
