Obituary William "Howard" Teater

William Howard Teater was born May 10,1909 at home east of Centerville to Clarence and Clara Dykes Teater. He spent his youth in the Griffinsville- North Bend area attending North Bend School. Howard was a member of the North Bend Christian Church.

On November 20, 1926 Howard was united in marriage to Mary "Franchon" Beaty. To this union were born five children – daughters, Mrs. Karl (Carleta) Knapp, Mrs. J. B. (Mary) Kelley, Mrs. Joe (Karen) Luscan, all of Centerville and sons, Ray of rural Moulton and Verl of Springdale, Arkansas. Franchon preceded him in death August 23, 1975. In addition to the children, those surviving are sons-in-law Karl Knapp, J. B. Kelley, and Joe Luscan and daughters-in-law, Freda and Virginia. A sister, Faye Hamilton of Plano, also survives, as well as 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also preceding him in death was a brother Ted of Centerville, a son-in-law, Elmer Hiatt, and two great-grandsons, Nicki Dulaney and Monte Knapp.

Howard spent his entire life living in Monroe and Appanoose Counties where he farmed until 1960 when he moved to Centerville. He then worked for the County until his retirement in 1971.
Howard will be remembered best for his love for his family and fellowship for his many friends. He was happiest trading and visiting with family and friends, reliving the many happy experiences of his life. The last few years, many enjoyable hours were spent at the Saddle Rock Café visiting with friends.
Howard had enjoyed good health until late November. He underwent surgery in Mercy Hospital in Des Moines and was recovering there until his unexpected death February 1. 1980.
Funeral services were held at the Miller- Wehrle Funeral Home February 4, 1980 with burial at Haynes Cemetery, Pall Bearers were grandsons, Jim Knapp, Richard Dulaney, Gary Hiatt, Ayron Teater, Howard and Blake Luscan
