Please note that there are errors in the published account, most notably, the name, "Donovan" is wrong. He is John Donnan. Also,he emigrated around 1865.

John Donovan
John Donovan, son of John and Jesse Donovan, was born in Newton Stewart, Scotland, June 25, 1850, and departed this life March 18, 1929.

He came to this country in 1882 and spent most of his life in Appanoose.

On September 14th, 1877, he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie McQueen. She preceded him in death March fourth, eighteen ninety. To this union three children were born, two daughters and a son, the sun also preceded him in death. The daughters are namely Mrs. Jesse Miller, of Griffinsville, Iowa and Mrs. Isabelle Street of Mystic, Iowa beside the 2 daughters there are nine grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

He was again united in marriage to Melvina Fenton October 1899, who preceded him and death June 27, 1923.

Mr. Donovan united with the Brushey Baptist church several years ago.

His a sudden going Will be a shock to his many friends for he was respected highly in the community in which she has lived so many year.

The funeral was conducted from his home near Griffinsville by William Bainbridge on Wednesday afternoon and they number of sympathizing friends and neighbors were present.

The body was tenderly laid to rest in the beautiful little cemetery at Brushey.
