Mrs. Minnie Lowe

Minnie Ratliff, daughter of Benjamin and Sarah Jane Ratliff, was born in Appanoose county, Iowa, in the vicinity of the Philadelphia Christian church in August 26, 1868, and passed away at St. Joseph hospital July 18, 1934, at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 23 days.

On Dec. 24, 1891 she was united in marriage to I.J. Lowe at the home of her father near the Philadelphia church. To this union three children were born, two of whom preceded the mother in death dying in infancy. One daughter, Gertrude, with the husband, survives. She is also survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Adria A. Ellis, Bucyrus, Mo., Mrs. Elizabeth Sedam, Logansport, Ind., Alva Ratliff, Centerville, and Johh Ratliff, Omaha, Nebr., with a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lowe lived a fine christian life, having united with the Christian church at Philadelphia when she was 14 years of age. When the family moved to Centerville she transferred her membership to the Central Church of Christ here. For many years, she was active in the affairs of the church, and served it in a vary fine way, though she was very unassuming in her attitude. She was willing to render the smaller services to those about her. as long as her health permitted, she was regular in attendance. In her home life, Mrs. Lowe was a loving companion and kind mother and was appreciated and loved by those who knew her best. In her passing, we lose a noble woman whose quiet christian influence was a blessing to all who knew her. Besides her immediate family she leaves to mourn her passing a large number of relatives and many friends.

Funeral service was held from the Central Church of Christ, Friday afternoon, with her pastor, H.E. Trimble officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery.
