Gilbert Mincks

CENTERVILLE - Gilbert Mincks, 96, of rural Centerville, died Friday at 8:50 a.m. at Corydon Manor in Corydon, where he had been two months.

He was born Jan. 4, 1876 in Appanoose County to Phillip and Harriett Dudley Mincks. He married Abbie White Oct. 26, 1949, in Centerville. She survives. He lived on his farm east of Centerville for 60 years.

Also surviving are two grandsons, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; three half-sisters, Mrs. Minerva Lewis of Centerville, Mrs. Viola Thomas of Ottumwa and Mrs. Etta McVeigh of California.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, one son, four sisters and two brothers. The funeral will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home in Centerville, with the Rev. Joseph Ricks officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
