JOHN E. DEAN

John Elvin Dean, 69, of Exline, the brother of Richard E. Dean of Grinnell, died Thursday, April 16, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday at the Lange Funeral Home in Centerville, with the Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial was in Hilltown Cemetery south of Moulton.

The son of Henry and Rebecca Jane LaRue Dean, he was born May 25, 1922, near Coatesville, Mo. He was a graduate of Livonia High School and had been employed by the Herman Nelson Co. and Allis Chalmers.

He was married to Norma Elizabeth Staton Dec. 23, 1948, in Centerville. She preceded him in death in April 1982.

Mr. Dean was a veteran of World War II during which he served with the 101st Airborne Attachment and was awarded four Bronze Stars. He was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are two sisters, Dorothy Black of Queen City and Eugeneia Myers of Coatesville, and three brothers, Henry C. of Coatesville, Richard E. of Grinnell and Miles of Lancaster, Mo.
