DEATH OF HOWARD GORDON
Sunday morning at 8:30 o'clock occurrrd the death of Howard Gordon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Noble Cutts, at Forbush. Mr. Gordon has been ill for some weeks past his death being caused by paralysis.
Mr. Gordon was born in Washington County, Indiana the year of 1844. In 1855 the family moved to Iowa and in Appanoose County he has resided ever since.
He married Miss Julia Stier of Oskaloosa in 1866. He served in Company H. Eight Iowa Cavalry from the year 1863 until the end of the war.
Mr. Gordon was Custodian of the Centerville Fire Department for several years. He was well and favorable known in and about the county.
His wife died some three years ago. He is survived by three children Mrs. Noble Cutts, of Forbush and Messrs John and George Gordon of Mystic.
The G. A. R's took part in the funeral services which took place at the home of his daughter, conducted by Rev. J. R. Hanley of the M. E. Church of this city. The Fire Department met the remains at the city limits and escorted
the body to the Oakland Cemetery where interment was made.
