For William Moffatt

Long time Appanoose and Monroe county farmer, William Moffatt, suffered a stroke while attending to his morning chores, Saturday morning, June 30. He was found dead several hours later, the stroke causing immediate death.
William Moffatt, was born in Monroe County March 14, 1882, The son of Jacob and Mary Moffatt.
He passed away at his home June 30, 1956 at the age of 74 years 3 months and 16 days.
Surviving is his wife, Minnie M. Moffatt, two sons, Floyd W. Moffatt and Lee J. Moffatt and one grandson Edward Francis Moffatt. Also three sisters and one brother; Elvia Bickford of Calton, California, Jane Stephens of Albia, Iowa, Evie Runnells of Moravia, Iowa and Elmer Moffatt of Ottumwa, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Minnie M. Stevens of Unionville, Iowa, April 19, 1911. To this union two sons, Floyd and Lee Moffatt were born. He spent his entire life in Monroe and Appanoose County except for 3 years in Wyoming. Preceeding him in death are his mother, father, one sister, Silvia Foster, two brothers Alfa Moffatt, and John F. Moffatt.
Funeral services were held Monday morning at the Turner funeral home with Rev. Banks Doggett officiating. Burial was at the Denny cemetery.
