Despondent over the troubles of life and having no further desire to battle with life's cares and temptations, Joseph Brinegar, aged 45, a farmer, living on the farm of Wm McCreary five miles southeast of this city, took a dose of
strychnine at 12 o'clock yesterday with intent to commit suicide, and died from the effects of the poison at 12:30, after suffering the most horrible agony.
Brinegar was well-known in the city and county, having made his home here for a number of years, and with the exception of his habit for strong drink, was a model citizen. A wife and several children are left to mourn the loss of a husband
and father. The poison which did such good and effective work was purchased in Moulton last week.
