Francis Silk
Passes Away
Francis Silk of 418 East 16th Street, Des Moines, Iowa, passed away Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Oakdale Hospital in Iowa City. He was 63 years, 7 months and 26 days old at the time of death. He was born in Mystic, Iowa, June 30, 1898, the son of Horace and Mary Seddon Silk. Mr. Silk moved from Mystic to Des Moines in 1919 and was married to Zella Day in Des Moines, May 22, 1922, who survives his passing along with two brothers, Willard Silk and Lowell Silk, both of Des Moines, and a sister, Mrs. Edna Stoner of West Fork, Ark. Mr. Silk was a construction worker being a member of the Labor Union Local 177 and the Eagles Lodge No. 109, Des Moines. He had been a patient in the Oakdale Sanitarium since Jan. 22, 1957.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. from the Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Orval Walker officiating and burial in the Highland Cemetery, Mystic, Iowa.
