George Ashby
Taken Monday
George William Ashby of 315 East Orchard Street, died a t 3:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 15 days. Born in Davis county, Iowa, November 21, 1877, he was the son of George and Melissa Ashby. He had been a resident of Centerville since a small child, and was a retired employee of the Iowa Southern
Utilities Company.
Surviving are six children, Harley Ashby and Mrs. Mary Covington of Centerville, Raymond Ashby of Moravia, Mrs. Olive Ford of Waterloo, William Ashby of Waterloo, and Mrs. Elizabeth Roby of Bell Flower, Calif. Fifteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Ashby of Centerville and Grover Ashby of Des Moines; and three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Manson, Mrs. Ida Lee and Mrs. Amanda Wallace, all of Centerville, also survive. His parents, two brothers, and one great-grand child preceded him in death. The body is at the Johnson Funeral home. Funeral plans will be announced later.
