WM. C. STICKNEY DEAD
William Christy Stickney died early on Easter morning, April 8, 1928, in Altadena, Cali., at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edwin R. Post. He
had been suffering with a cold for about a week, when pneumonia developed and he grew suddenly worse.
Mr. Stickney was born June 8,1842 on a farm near Northport, Ontario, Canada, where he spent his boyhood and young manhood. In 1865 he came to the State of New York, where he spent a year, moving to Illinois and then to Iowa. On October 13, 1870, he was married to Nancy Ellen Coble
at Ackley, Iowa. For more than 57 years they journeyed together, raising a family of three sons and one daugher, Edwin, Russell, Walter and
Edna, all of whom are living.
In April 1887, he moved from Sheffield, Iowa, to Moulton, and opened the Moulton Bank, which was absorbed in 1890 by Bradley's Bank. This became the First National Bank of Moulton in July 1900, so that when he moved to Colorado in 1904 he had spent more than 17 years in active banking in Moulton, and was well known throughout the county. For the past 15 years Mr. and Mrs. Stickney have resided in southern California.
During his residence in Moulton he was interested in church, school and lodge work, assisting everything which was for the good of the community. He was a member of the Methodist church and was active in the building of the new church in 1901. In 1892 he joined the Masons
and was a member of Sincerity Lodge No. 317 at the time of his death, never having moved his membership.
Funeral services were held in the Little Church of the Flowers at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Glendale, Cali., and were conducted
by Rev. Thos. Grice, pastor of South Pasadena M. E. church. The pallbearers were Edwin, Russell and Walter Stickney, sons; Edwin R. Post
son-in-law; Alan C. Stickney, grandson, and C. W. Warner, nephew.
