In Response To: seeking Banks' obit listed in cemetery records (Paul Banks)

Paul,
The obit reference in the Thompson Corner Cemetery listing is a note by the cemetery researchers [Woodmansee] which indicates that their information was either found in an obituary or that an obituary confirms their sight observation. It does not mean that they were ever posted at this site. A limited number of Lansing Mirror and Allamakee County Journal newspapers are on microfilm at the Iowa Historical Society but I am not sure whether the dates you are interested in are included. I know that quite a few prior to 1900 are available in Iowa City.
I know that some Banks stones still stand in that cemetery [Willie's for sure] The Banks family lived on a farm across the road from that cemetery. They were neighbors of the Goettel/Marten clan on whose property their Zion German Evangelical church's cemetery was located.
