I am looking for information regarding the Soren Stadsvold family, specifically I am trying to track when Soren and his family immigrated to the U.S. Soren (born Apr 24, 1829 in Norway/died Apr 17, 1909in Jefferson township). His wife's name was Guri (born Apr 14, 1836 in Norway/died Feb 28, 1874 in Jefferson township). I know of six children - Ole, Soren, Anne Mary, John, Olena and Julia.
Ole stayed on the family farm in Jefferson Township - he married Marie Saevert and passed away on Dec. 16, 1936. They had two children, Gilmore (born Sept 14, 1895/died Dec 14, 1969) and Olga (born Oct 28, 1898/died Feb 14, 1990). Olga married Ludvig Larson (born Jan 6, 1891/died Nov 28, 1989) and they had one daughter, Joyce - I have no information on Joyce.
The information I have on Soren's immigration is that he came from Norway around 1847 and went to Rock Prairie, WI and moved to Iowa four years later - he came to the U.S. with his parents, two sisters and one brother (I have no names for any of them). I have tried tracing them through the Census records and found that in the 1880 census his name was Soren Oleson and have not been able to verify his family in the 1850, 1860 or 1870 Census records. In looking at the records, I am leaning towards the idea that their name originally was Johnson but would like to try to find the only relative that may still be around - Joyce Larson - to see if she was any information that could verify that.
Is there someway to look up her parents and/or uncle's obituaries to see if she married and what here name might be? Or where she lived when they died?
Thanks for any information you might be able to provide me with.
Mary
