Syvert Gunderson married Anna Larson on 24 August 1870 in Mitchell County, Iowa.
Anna was born on 4 May 1849 in Rock County, Wisconsin. Her father was Lars Knudson Jeglum born 8 February 1818 in Aal, Hol, Buskerud, Norway. Her mother was Sigri Olsdatter Narum born 1 November 1825 in Gol, Buskerud, Norway.
If Anna had been born in Norway, she would have been baptized as Anna Larsdatter (taking on her father's patronymic name); Because she was born in Wisconsin, usually she would have been baptized Anna Knudson (taking on her father's own patronymic rather than her own). Jeglum is the name of the farm in Buskerud and Norwegians often used the farm name in America. Narum was the name of the farm that Sigri/Sarah was from.
The family is enumerated in most censuses as Knudson and in 1900, Lars is enumerated with the surname of Jeglum in Worth County, Iowa. Sigri died on 20 January 1899 and her husband, Lars Knudson on 27 May 1904. I also saw the census where the family was listed as "Herdson." This was wrong -- the census taker was not Norwegian and did it incorrectly.
Write to Mitchell County for the marriage record on 24 August 1870 for Syvert Gunderson and Anna Larson.
