I am documenting the descendants of Gregory J. Thornton born about 1936 in Lansing, Iowa (dec.). He was married to Ethel Poquette/Poquett.

His father was John W. Thornton Jr., born October 12, 1891 in Lansing. Died April 17, 1979, buried in Gethsemene Cem., Lansing.

Mother is unknown. I am trying to find out who this woman was.

The parents of John W. Thornton, Jr. were John W. Thornton Sr. and Blanche O'Donnell.

John W. Thornton Sr. was born October 1891 in Lansing. Blanche Felicia O'Donnell was born Mary 23, 1895 in Minnesota. She died March 2, 1985.

The parents of John W. Thornton Sr. were John Henry Thornton and Mary E. Kelleher or Kellaher. John H. Thornton was born 4/14/1844 and died 1/1/1923. He is buried in Gethsemene Cem., Lansing. Mary Kelleher/Kellaher was born Jan. 1854 and died between 1910 and 1920.

Children of John W. Thornton Sr. and Blanche O'Donnell were: John W. Jr.; Mary E.; Patricia A.; Thomas; Mathew J.; and Margaret Mary. All of these children were born in Iowa. Some are buried in Gethsemene Cem., Lansing.

There are two John H. Thornton's listed in the Gethsemene Cem. with the same dates. One is listed as Thornton and one as Thorton. John H. was born April 1844 or 1845, born in Canada. His parents were from Ireland. I am looking for the names of his parents. He died 1923 in Lansing. Mary E. Kelleher/Kellaher was born Jan. 1854 New York and died between 1910-1920 in Lansing. She was daughter of William and Mary of Ireland. I am looking for info. on this line also.

Children of John H. and Mary E. were:

Genevieve Thorton (note name spelling); Norbert; John W. Sr.; and Rita F.

If anyone has any information on these families, please contact me at: terryphippslane@yahoo.com.

Thanks!
