Elizabeth, Obits as we know them today did not exist prior to circa 1900 except for the more prominent citizens of the locale. Margaret's could be a one or two line entry regarding the event. And depending on the frequency of publication, could be in a couple editions later. Not sure what newspaper may have serviced Waterloo twp., but for either event, I would contact the Waukon Ia. library for their assistance as to the availability of archived newspapers. Dick
