In Response To: O'Hare Place cemetery (Tammy O'Hare Kuhn)

I don't think this cemetery exists any longer, at least no graves. From ALLAMAKEE COUNTY IOWA BURIAL GROUNDS, 1845-1988, by Dale P. Woodmansee:

"The "O'Hare Place" Cemetery which earlier served the Iowa River Lutheran Church was located along the Upper Iowa River on an improved road about three miles southeasterly from the junction of Roads A26 and W60. It is still partially fenced off but overgrown with a thick stand of sumac. Reinterments from this cemetery were made to the Iowa River Cemetery and other rural cemeteries in neighboring Winneshiek County, Iowa."

Woodmansee wrote his directions in the 1980's, but today these roads have new names. The cemetery location is in Hanover twp. Section 9. Three miles southeast of the junction of Bear Creek Drive (A26) and Balsam Rd (W60) off Iverson Bridge Rd. onto McLaughlin Drive. It is likely on the privately owned land (possibly of Milton Iverson)
