John & Hanora Garvey

GARVEY, WALLACE

I'm interested in John Garvey and his wife Hanora (Hanorah) Wallace. Both were born in Ireland. They lived in Kane County, Illinois, before moving to Allamakee County. The whole family is found on the 1870 census in Union Prairie township, including Anna ("Annie"), Michael, Andrew, Thomas, Johanna, John Jr., and William. John Garvey Sr. died in the 1870s. His widow and children are found on the 1880 census (the mother was mistakenly called Johanna).

Does anyone know what happenened to the descendants of John and Hanora Garvey? Does anyone know if they're connected to this blurb from the Postville Review (May 19, 1883)?: "The Garvey murder trial at Waukon culminated in the conviction of the prisoner and she was sentenced to the penitentiary for life." I'd be interested in learning more about this murder--name of victim, name of murderer. Thanks.
