Born 5 Feb 1889 in Sabula Iowa, Thomas Petersen was the youngest son of Soren & Ane Margrethe Thomsen Petersen. I have been able to track Thomas in the 1900 & 1910 Census in Sabula Iowa, and by WWI draft registration to Lansing, Allamakee County, Iowa. I seem to come up against the brick wall after that. On his WW1 draft registration he is listed as working for the Lansing Button Company as a Button Cutter.
Thomas had the following siblings:
Peter N Petersen
Andrew Carsten Petersen-also a button cutter in Sabula
James M Petersen-blacksmith
Nels Peterson-my 3x great grandfather
Mary E. Petersen Whitney w/o David G WhitneyThe only other lead I have is from a handwritten record from the 1940's that Thomas had 1 daughter...and that's all I have been working with. Old census records and an old handwritten family record.
Thomas'parents had emigrated from Denmark & Germany...married when they emigrated. Thomas' mother was German, his father from Denmark. If any of this rings a bell with you, please feel free to contact me, any lead would be appreciated. Searching for Petersen/Peterson's is the proverbial needle but in a giant haystack, not just a normal sized one.
Thank you,
Lori Callaway
