Carole Jean Reher, 65, of Maple Grove, Minn., and formerly of Waukon, Iowa, died Thursday, February 9, 2006, at her home in Minnesota.

Friends and relatives may call after 10 a.m. Thursday, February 16, at the Reiff Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa, where services will be held at 11 a.m., with Deacon William Mauss officiating. Burial will be held in Mount Hope Cemetery in Dyersville.

Carole was born November 3, 1940, in Waukon, the daughter of E. Paul and Margaret I. (Kvilvang) Reher. She is a graduate of Waukon High School. She received her teaching degree at Luther College in Decorah and later received her Master’s degree at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Carole was an elementary school teacher for 38 years in the Osseo, Minn., school district. While working there she received a remedial reading certification and enjoyed working with students as a remedial instructor in addition to her regular classroom duties.

While Carole was attending Luther College, she traveled to Norway with the choir and enjoyed going back later to visit relatives there. She had a deep love for traveling, outdoor activities, and photography. After her retirement, she was a volunteer nature photographer for several years at the Hennepin County Nature Preserve. As a photographer, she won many prizes and had many photos published.

She is survived by one sister, Patricia Kay (Tom) Snyder of Dyersville; one brother, Richard Alan (Karen) Reher of Custer, Mich.; three nephews, Christopher Reher of Chico, Calif., David Snyder of Des Moines, Iowa, and Brian (Emily) Snyder of Dyersville; an aunt and uncle, Lorraine (George) Worle; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Paul Reher June 22, 2004, and Margaret I. Reher April 2, 2003.

A Carole J. Reher memorial fund has been established.
