Nadine D. Fritz, 80, of Waukon, Iowa, died Thursday, February 9, 2006, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, February 13, at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was in Lansing Ridge Cemetery, rural Lansing, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.

Nadine Doris was born April 1, 1925, in rural Dorchester, Iowa, the daughter of Truman and Leona (Bulman) Wenig. She was baptized and confirmed at the Dorchester Methodist Church. Nadine attended the Bear Creek School in rural Dorchester and later, in 1970, received her GED.

She married Otto Renk May 1, 1947, in Waukon. They farmed in rural Waukon until 1973 when they divorced and she moved to Waukon. Nadine then worked at Schultz Bros. Variety Store in Waukon and the Button Factory in Lansing.

August 11, 1979, she married Harold Fritz at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She and Harold enjoyed several bus trips throughout the US and a morning ritual of having coffee with friends.

Nadine was active for many years at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon and since her marriage to Harold, at First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed children, making a special effort to follow her children’s and grandchildren’s school activities as well as serving as a 4-H leader and later being involved in the Adopt a Grandparent program in the Waukon schools. Crochet work and making photo albums of special times were other hobbies she enjoyed.

Survivors include her husband Harold of Waukon; three children, Jerry (Colleen) Renk of Bismarck, N.D., Sandra (Mike) Tierney of Middleton, Wis., and Jim (Cathy) Renk of Peru, Ill.; two step-children, Bill (Kathi) Fritz of Dallas, Texas, and Mary (Tom) Strong of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, Stephanie (Kip) Rowh and children Tim and Luke, Angie (Kevin) Schorzmon and children Alex and Samantha, Kelly (Terry) Schmidt and children Gracie, Emma, and their soon to be born son, Elizabeth (Jared) Schiel and children Zach and Hannah, Shane (Holly) Tierney and children Zach and Lindsay, Brent (Betsy) Tierney and twin children Spencer and Kyle, Ryan Tierney (Jen Jaskel), Sam Renk, and Ellen Renk; six step-grandchildren, Eric and Andy Strong and Chris, Ashlee, Brian, and Brittany Phillips; two sisters, Margaret Meyer of Waukon and Evelyn (Milton) Staggemeyer of Eitzen, Minn.; and a brother-in-law, David Fruechte of Verdi, Minn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Otto; two sisters, Donna Lou Fruechte and Lorna Mae Meiners; and two brothers-in-law, Alvin Meyer and Ronald Meiners.

Casketbearers were Stephanie and Kip Rowh, Angie and Kevin Schorzman, Kelly and Terry Schmidt, Elizabeth and Jared Schiel, Shane and Holly Tierney, Brent and Betsy Tierney, Ryan Tierney, Jen Jaskel, Sam Renk, and Ellen Renk.
