Neighbor Oliver T. Patterson, M.W.A., of Bloomington passed to the Great Arcana in death Tuesday evening and was interred in Bloomington cemetery Thursday afternoon. Services at the Episcopal church were conducted by Bishop Graves of Hastings and Rev. Bates of Red Cloud, the pastor of the church, after which the beautiful ritualistic ceremony of the Modern Woodmen was carried out at the grave. The casket was covered by lavish floral tributes from the P.E.O. society, of which Mrs. Patterson is a member, and from other societies who held the estimable couple in high esteem. Mr. Patterson was about fifty-four years of age and had resided in Bloomington for twenty-eight years, a lawyer by profession, a loving, devoted husband and a genial, Christian gentleman. Few knew of his serious illness until apprised of his death, though he has long been a patient sufferer from kidney and kindred troubles. Mr. Patterson's brother and Mrs. Patterson's sister, both from abroad, were among the mourners. Neighbor Patterson was proud of his membership in the M.W. A. and took keen pleasure in promoting its interests on every possible occasion and many a tear bedewed the cheek of his Neighbors in Woodcraft as the sad rites were performed. His memory should inspire all who knew him to nobler and higher living.
