Paul Dickson

Paul David Dickson, 88, of Everson, Wash., passed away Thursday, September 29, 2005, in Lynden, Wash.

Paul was born September 9, 1917, and raised in Waukon, Iowa, and moved with his parents and two brothers to Whatcom County, Wash., in 1936. Paul and his family purchased a farm near Everson that became his career, his dream, and his home for the next 70 years. Paul met and married Elsie, the love of his life, in 1938. For the next 67 years, they watched their children and grandchildren grow, marry, and have children of their own.

Paul was a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie; his son, Daniel; and his sister, Janet.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert and John; his children, David, Bonnie and husband Tom, Michael and wife Wanda, Linda and husband Ralph, daughter-in-law Paulette, Dale and wife Robin, and the many beautiful and loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews whose lives he so deeply touched.

Paul was first and always a farmer. In addition to running a dairy farm, he was a 4-H leader for many years. As a child he was active in 4-H and studied animal husbandry. He never outgrew his love for dairy cattle and the world of agriculture. Paul was a member of Goshen and Laurel Grange for over 50 years and loved helping with the agricultural booth at the Lynden Fair. He was an agent for Grange Insurance for 30 years. He had many hobbies that included stamp collecting, antiquing, bowling, and crossword puzzling.

More than anything, Paul spent his life giving love and devotion to his family. For all who knew Paul and Elsie, long live the memory of “The Farm.”

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 11, at Greenacres/Moles Funeral Home with interment following in Greenacres/Moles Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Laurel Grange.
