Lansing, Ia. - Funeral services for Miss Sadie Leppert, 61, were held at the German Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. Henry Marks officiating. Miss Leppert died Sunday at a LaCrosse hospital.

A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Leppert, she was born Dec. 7, 1886 in French Creek township. She received her education in the rural and Lansing high schools, graduating with the class of 1904.

She taught school in Iowa, Washington and Illinois, and at the time of her illness was teaching in the city schools.

Miss Leppert was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. She is survived by one brother, Clarence.

DEATH SUMMONS FOR MISS SADIE LEPPERT

Sara E. Leppert, the daughter of Dora and Philip Leppert, deceased, was born in French Creek township December 7, 1886. She received her education in the rural school and the Lansing High School, graduating in 1904. She attended the May's Prairie Methodist Church and Sunday School.

Deceased taught school in Iowa, Washington and Illinois and was teaching in Chicago at the time she was taken sick. Last September she again took up her duties in the Sight Saving Department of the Chicago school, and although she didn't feel quite as well as usual taught until November 26th. On November 28th she entered the Billings Hospital for a check up and observation. But medical skill and loving care could not restore her to health. On January 4th she moved to the St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, where she passed away at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, February 27th.

Although she suffered intense pain she was very patient and uncomplaining, and was thoughtful and considerate of others to the end.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the German Presbyterian church, Rev. Marks officiating, and interment in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery.

“Sadie” Leppert was esteemed and beloved by all who knew her and her passing causes sorrow to a host of friends. Her beautiful traits of character - kindness, usefulness and charity for young and old – endeared her to a wide circle of acquaintances. No death hereabouts in a long time has caused more regret, and her bereaved brother has the sincere sympathy of all, the Journal included.

The pall bearers were Dewey, Jesse and Charley Leppert, Walter and Harvey Ebner, and Charles Hirth, all cousins of the deceased.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Gus Wiehe, McCook, Nebraska; Mrs. Dora Wiehe and sons John and Walter, Hibbing, Minn.; Mrs. May Hannah and Mr. Thomas Olson, of St. Paul, Minn.
