Albert Schrage
Albert F. Schrage, 94, of Plainfield died Tuesday evening, October 25, 2005 at Bartel’s Lutheran Home in Waverly.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua. Pastor Thomas Hagen officiated at the services. Mary Jo Stille served as organist and she accompanied Ronald Stille as he sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “In The Garden.”
Interment was at Willow Lawn Cemetery in Plainfield with Albert’s grandchildren as casketbearers: Thomas Schrage, Diane Chandler, Douglas Schrage, Gregory Bossom, Angela Hobson and Michael Bossom.
Visitation was Thursday at the Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Albert F. Schrage was born in Butler County June 7, 1911, the son of John and Minnie (Lottman) Schrage. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Clarksville. Albert attended rural Butler County schools.
He was united in marriage to Lily Louise Wedeking on February 25, 1937, at the Pleasant Valley parsonage, rural Clarksville. They made their home east of Plainfield for a short time before moving to a farm west of Nashua. In 1962, they moved to a farm 2 miles north of Plainfield and in 1980, they retired and moved into town. Lily became a resident at Clarksville Community Nursing Home in 1994 and later Albert moved to Clarksville to be nearer to her.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Nashua. He was very mechanical being able to repair almost any piece of machinery. He never lost his love for horses and had a special fondness for all his animals. In later years he took up the hobby of woodworking.
Albert is survived by one son, Donald (Sharon) Schrage of Plainfield; one daughter, Patricia (James) Bossom of Postville, six grandchildren: Thomas (Valerie) Schrage, Diane (Bradley) Chandler, Douglas (Heather) Schrage, Gregory (Jean) Bossom, Angela Hobson and Michael (Kari) Bossom; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, William Schrage of Waverly; one sister, Elizabeth Liddle of Plainfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lily, on September 21, 1997, his parents, two brothers; Abel & John Schrage and one sister, Rena Rover.
