Tom O'Neill
Tom O'Neill, age 81, of Wexford, Iowa, died Monday morning, April 12, 2004, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Friday, April 16 at Wexford Immaculate Conception Church, rural Lansing, with Msgr. Cletus Hawes, Fr. Donald Hawes, and Fr. Louis Trzil officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home, Lansing, was in charge of arrangements.
Tom was born in Allamakee County August 6, 1922, to Patrick Henry and Hannora (Crowe) O'Neill. He was a lifelong Wexford area farmer and member of the Wexford Immaculate Conception Parish. In his spare time, Tom loved to play baseball, softball, and hunt for fox. He also enjoyed playing cards and attending family gatherings.
Survivors include a brother, Frank O'Neill of Wexford; two sisters, Eleanor O'Neill of Waukon and Phyllis O'Neill of Lowell, Ind.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Steve, Hilary, and Celestine O'Neill; and a sister, Mary Mona O'Neill.
Casketbearers were Gerald Hawes, John Delaney, George Delaney, Jim Hawes, Carl Mullarkey, and Keith Garin. Honorary casketbearers were Maurice Mooney, Leo Mullarkey, Mike Collins, Dick Saddler, Cyril Hawes, Cyril Mooney, and Francis Kernan.
