Irene Juliet Goodno, 81, of Spring Grove, died Sunday, May 23, 2004, at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove. She was born December 19, 1922, in Allamakee County, Iowa, to Burdean and Sarah (Johnson) Flatten. She graduated from Allamakee County, Rural School on June 3, 1936 and was a lifelong area resident. On February 27, 1946, she married Julius Goodno in Caledonia and he preceded her in death on December 24, 1995.

Irene worked in food service at Tweeten Health Care Center until her retirement in 1984. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove and its women’s groups; and a 24-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Goodno of Roseville; her aunt Pauline Thompson, Houston; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Julius, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Holles Flatten.

Services will be Thursday, May 27, 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephanie Frey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
