Ruth Leora Lillian Breeser, 63, of Caledonia, MN died Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at The Lutheran Home, Caledonia. She was born March 27, 1938 in Iowa township, Allamakee County, IA to John Sr. and Laura (Schuttemeier) Breeser. Ruth attended grade school in New Albin, IA, and Jefferson township before graduating from New Albin in 1956. After graduation, Ruth worked as a nurses aid at the Caledonia Hospital. In December of 1958 she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Ruth then worked at the Houston County Treasurer’s office. Ruth lived with her parents after she was unable to work and in May of 1985 she became a resident of the Caledonia Lutheran Home where she has lived for the past 16 years.

Ruth enjoyed music and would give a big smile when she would hear her favorite song played. She also loved the many girls that cared for her all these years, many of whom worked with Ruth some 45 years ago. Ruth also liked to go shopping for pretty clothes.

Survivors include her mother, Laura Breeser of Caledonia; a sister, Elaine (Milton) Burroughs, Caledonia; two brothers, Lee (Joan) Breeser, Eitzen, and John (Sharon) Breeser, New Albin; a brother-in-law, Merlin Meyer, Caledonia; an uncle, Martin Schuttemeier, Evanston, WY; an aunt, Dorothea Schuttemeier, Waukon; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father, a sister, Lou Meyer and two uncles.

Services were held Friday, January 25 at 11 am at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, New Albin with Rev. William Reese officiating. Burial was in St. Peter’s Memorial Cemetery. Friends called at the Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia on Thursday from 4-8 pm and at the church on Friday from 10 am until the time of service.
