William George Renk

William George Renk, son of the late Henry and Dorothea Meyer Renk, passed away Saturday morning. Jan. 8th, at the age of 68 years, 8 months and three days after an illness of three years’ duration.

Mr. Renk was born in Hanover, Germany, on April 25, 1875, and when ten years of age he came to America with his parents, who settled on a farm in Union City township, Iowa, near here. On April 8, 1888, he was confirmed at St. John’s church in Wheatland, and on Feb. 24, 1899, he married Miss Lena Luettchens. Twins were born to this union, one dying at birth and the second one living until 12 years old. Mrs. Renk lived only two years after their marriage.

On May 22, 1912, Mr. Renk was married to Rosine Fredrik Kurk and stayed on the present farm where they have lived ever since.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Brinker of Eitzen, Mrs. George Schuldt of New Albin, Iowa, and two sons, Herbert and Otto, and two brothers, Henry and Herman, and also four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 11, at 1:30 o’clock at the home and at 2 o’clock at St. John’s church in Wheatland, the Reverend E. Roth Officiating. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
