Edwin A. Walleser, 69, died Sunday, May 4, 1997, in Gunderson-Lutheran Medical Center, La Crosse, Wis. Services: 11 a.m. today, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, by Father Herbert Tegeler. Burial: Gethsemane Cemetery. Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, is in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Dolores; four sons: Mark (Kris) and Tom (Janet), both of Lansing, Gary (Linda) of La Crosse, Wis., and Robert (Kris) of Waukesha, Wis.; four daughters: Judy (Kevin) Selberg and Sharon Walleser (John), both of Waukon, Diane Walleser of La Crosse, Wis., and Carol (Gary) Bottorff of Lansing; grandchildren: Matt, Joey, Liza, Brad, Mitch, Marty, Kelsey, Tanner, Trent, Molly, Elli and Olivia Walleser; Laura and Erik Selberg, and Evan and Callie Bottorff; five brothers: Stanley (Velma) of DeSoto, Wis., and Francis (Mildred), Lawrence (Esther), Louis (Joan) and Wilfred (Bernice), all of Lansing; and six sisters: Helen Freiburger of Peosta, Alice Griffin of Dayton, Ohio, Wilhelmina (Gerald) Finkral of Meadow Grove, Neb., Phyllis (Lu) Kimsey and Collen (Del) Brown, both of Fort Collins, Colo., and Isabelle (Leo) Hawes of Lansing.
He was born Oct. 10, 1927, to John Joseph and Anna Berns Walleser, in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1948. On Sept. 1, 1953, he married Dolores M. Wagner in Lansing. He lived and farmed in the Lansing area his entire life and owned and operated a dairy, hog and beef farm with his son Tom on Gruber Ridge. He was an avid walleye fisherman and hunter.
Ed loved life and the people in his life, especially his family.
