Paul Regan

Paul A. Regan, 78, of Dubuque, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday, October 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was at Mount Calvary Cemetery. American Legion Post #6 of Dubuque provided Military Rites. Hoffman-Schneider and Kitchen Funeral Home of Dubuque was in charge of arrangements.

Paul was born June 12, 1927, in Waukon, the son of Hugh and Theresa (Griffin) Regan. He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954.

Paul married Shirley Kubitz November 20, 1954, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Dubuque.

He was employed at John Deere Dubuque Works for 33 years. Paul was also a member of the American Legion Post #6, John Deere Retirees, and the Benevolent Protective Order of Eagles, as well as Sacred Heart Parish, where he served as an usher.

Paul was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, traveling, and the occasional trip to the dog track.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; five children, Debra (Robert) Droessler of Davenport, Iowa, Don (Cherie) Regan of Asbury, Iowa, Sharon (Rick) Dix of Dubuque, Tom (Barb) Regan of Dubuque, and Karen (Scott) Spensley of Dubuque; nine grandchildren, Tony Regan, Karyn Droessler, Julie Droessler, Rachael Regan, Nicole Spensley, Dakota Dix, Alex Regan, Lindsey Regan, and Nathan Regan; two sisters, La Vonne Kerth of Dubuque and Rita Lang of Dubuque; and a special niece, Elaine (Royce) Russell of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie; two sons, Teddy and Dennis; a sister, Marcella McGeough; and three brothers, Lawrence, Raymond, and Francis.

A Paul A. Regan Memorial Fund has been established.
