Kenneth Dean Meyer

Funeral services for Kenneth Meyer, Quasqueton, were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 29 at the East Buchanan Junior High Gym in Winthrop. Rev. Scott Hall and Rev. H. William Arms officiating.

Kenny died Monday, July 27, 1987 at University Hospital in Iowa City from injuries sustained in a bicycle accident at Backbone State Park Sunday. He was 15 years old.

Kenneth Dean Meyer was born November 26, 1971 at Independence, IA, the son of John and Virginia Crawford Meyer. They lived at Aurora where Kenny was baptized in the First Baptist Church. The family later moved to Quasqueton. Kenny had attended the Church of Christ in Arlington as well as the Union Church at Quasqueton. He was active in Campus life. This fall Kenny would have been a sophomore at East Buchanan High School where he was active in the football and wrestling programs.

He is survived by his parents John and Virginia Meyer, three brothers, Bryan and Dale of Postville, and John of Annapolis, MD, a paternal grandmother, Mildred Meyer of Aurora, a maternal grandmother, Mary Crawford of Arlington, many other relatives and numerous friends.

The Fawcett Funeral home of Winthrop was in charge of arrangements.

Casket bearers were Jeff Vaughn, Hal Hepker, Phil Steffen, David Steinkamp, Pat Oehler and Todd Kress. Interment was in Madison Cemetery at Aurora.
