Barbara Cote´

Barbara A. Cote´, 75, of Waukon, Iowa, died Monday, September 5, 2005, at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon, with Rev. Laura Odegard officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon.

Barbara Ann was born August 22, 1930, in Waukon, Iowa, the daughter of Fred Lincoln and Bernice Mae (Rost) Hausman. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, graduated from Waukon High School in 1948, and attended Cornell College in Mt. Vernon. She returned to Waukon where she operated Barb's Floral for a year.

September 20, 1950, she married Eaton Cote' at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon. Although caring for her family was her prime concern, Barb had a number of jobs during her working life. She and Eaton operated the Cote' and Town Theatres in Waukon until 1967, she helped at her parents' H&H Shoe Store, worked at Waukon Greenhouse, helped on the family farm, made Christmas wreaths for the local Jaycees for many years, and made and sold crafts at Holiday Fair in La Crosse, Wis., for over 25 years.

Barb was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, PEO, Eastern Star, and a Birthday Club. She had been a lifeguard in high school and encouraged all of her children and most of her grandchildren to do the same. She loved the outdoors and liked to go on picnics, camping and traveling, fishing, hunting mushrooms, and picking berries. She also enjoyed playing cards, working jigsaw puzzles, and doing crafts of all types.

Survivors include her husband Eaton of Waukon; four children, Nancy (Larry) Klocke, Eaton (Kris) Cote' and Amy Cote', all of Waukon, and Sally (Russ) Paus of Dorchester; six grandchildren, Sara (Jason) Westra, Ben (Emily) Klocke, Bonnie and Julie Paus, and Alex and Zach Cote'; a brother, John (Jane) Hausman of Waukon; and a nephew, Fred (Nancy) Hausman of Marshfield, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Casketbearers are Alex and Zach Cote', Ben and Larry Klocke, Russ Paus, and Jason Westra.
