Paula K. Troendle

Paula K. Troendle, age 33, of Waukon, died Monday, March 8, 2004. Funeral services were held Friday, March 12 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Campbell and Rev. Laura Odegard officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Paula Kay Schroedel was born May 14, 1970, at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, Wis., to Gerald John and Gweneth Kay Petersen Schroedel.

She earned her associate degree in education from Kirkwood Community College and attended the University of Northern Iowa for 1 1/2 years. She graduated from Northeast Iowa Community College in Calmar with her diploma in nursing. She was an LPN at the Good Samaritan Center.

She married Larry J. Troendle at St. Paul's United Methodist Church September 17, 1994. They resided in Waukon.

Paula was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She was the secretary of the Allamakee County Mental Health Board, on the Waukon Planning and Zoning Committee, the chairman of Pastor Parish Committee, and member of Administrative Counsel of St. Paul's United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Allamakee Community Players and the balloon crew for Driftaway Balloons for 15 years.

Paula continued her life of service after her death by becoming a bone, tissue, and eye donor. Her gift will enhance the lives of 80 to 100 people who will help her legacy live on.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence J. Troendle and their children, Zachary John, age 6, and Dalon Peter, age 5; her parents, Gwen and Jerry Schroedel; her grandmother Velma Schroedel; mother and father-in-law John and Angela Troendle; her sister, Tamara Lynn Schroedel Philby and husband Steve; sister-in-law Linda Troendle Hackman and husband Aaron; and a niece, Kaylee Jo Philby.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Matt Schroedel and Peter Petersen and Etta Livingston Petersen.

Honorary casketbearers were the staff of Waukon Good Samaritan Center. Casketbearers were Daniel Burroughs, Jerry Bakewell, Roger Bakewell, Todd Seigenthaler, Troy Kastler, and Larry Waters.
